  ANSWERS
Why should I donate blood?

  • Because some patient needs it!
  • Because you won't lose anything!
  • Because you are the only source of it!
  • Because you are healthy!
  • Because you care for others!

Will I feel weak if I donate blood?

No. You have about 5-6 litres of blood in your body.

You donate only about 350-450 ml, which is made up by your system within 24 to 36 hours.

You can return to your job immediately after donating blood...

Will it Hurt?

Not at all.. Ask any donor.

Will I get any disease such as AIDS or Hepatitis transmitted by blood donation?

Not possible. Sterile disposable equipment is used for collection of blood.
There is no risk at all of any infection to the donor.

How do I know that I am fit to donate blood?
You will be asked to donate blood only if you are declared medically fit and are between the age of 18 to 60 years and not less than 45 kgs in weight. If you have had any illness in the past, please tell the doctor. It is important for you and the patients safety

Why should I give blood if I can afford to buy it?

The blood that you buy comes from professional blood sellers, who are undernourished; may carry a disease which can be passed on to the patient. Are you willing to risk the lives of your dear ones?

Further it is exploitation of the poorer section of the society and must be stopped.

There are 4 major blood groups A, B, AB, and O. These could be Rh positive or Rh negative. The incidence of Rh negative in India is only 5%. All types of people need blood and we need all types of people to donate blood. If you have rare type of blood, it is preferable to be on call at any blood bank close to you. All types of blood are required daily for surgeries, deliveries, accidents and blood disorders.
